Cardiovascular Nursing

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will review cardiovascular structure and function (28.03), identify signs and symptoms of diseases/disorders of the cardiovascular system (34.01), identify diagnostic tests and medications used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases/disorders (34.02, 34.03), and identify nutritional needs of patients with cardiovascular diseases/disorders (34.04).

 

SUMMARY OF UNITS:

Unit II: The Patient with Diseases/Disorders of the Blood Vessels.

Unit III: The Patient with Diseases/Disorders of the Hematopoietic System

This assignment is required and will be weighted as a unit exam.

Complete 3 of the following to receive 80%; complete 4 of the following to receive 90%; complete 5 of the following to receive 100%:

  • ATI Fundamentals Online Practice Exam with a  minimum score of 80% (submit printed ATI score to instructor with student signature validating data)
  • ATI Phamacology Online Practice Exam with a minimum score of 80% (submit printed ATI score to instructor with student signature validating data)
  • 100 Questions on Cardiovascular, Respiratory and/or Pharmacology in the NCLEX PN Text (submit copy of questions and answers to instructor)
  • Review a current Cardiovascular article and write a one to two page typed summary of the article (See Rubric for Cardio Assignment below)
  • Go to the American Heart Association website at www.americanheart.org and explore a topic of interest and write a one to two page typed summary of your topic (See Rubric for Cardio Assignment below)
